About the department

The Department of Politics and European Studies (DPES) is currently the only educational institution renowned for its intensive tuitions of the Anglo-Saxon type, which is prevalent at prestigious American and European universities. In addition to traditional lectures, there is an important position of seminars based on discussions, individual engagement and deeper interaction amongt students.

DPES prepares specialists who work in public service regardless of level (including diplomatic service and the EU structures), non-governmental organizations, PR and research agencies, mass-media, or in private business companies oriented towards external cooperation or in foreign companies operating in the Czech Republic. Some graduates also remain in the academic environment, and they work at both Czech and foreign universities nowadays. 

Summer school of diplomacy

The first year of the SUMMER SCHOOL OF DIPLOMACY for grammar school students is being organized by the Department of Political Science and European Studies of Palacky University in cooperation with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Czech Republic. A unique educational programme on "The Czech Republic and the Contemporary World Challenges" will take place in the historical premises of Faculty of Arts with the participation of leading experts, experienced diplomats and army members from 28 August to 1 September 2017. Applications can only be submitted electronically due 10 July 2017 to 12pm (CET). We will inform you about the selection by email no later than 15 July 2017. The summer school of diplomacy is free of charge, students only pay for accommodation and meal. Each participant will receive a certificate of completion.
